School Districts Unaware BoardDocs Software Published Their Private Files
Diligent claims it began notifying BoardDocs customers on May 30, the same day an investigation into a BoardDocs breach affecting the Lower Merion school district became public. In several instances, however, customers only received confirmation of the incident after they reached out to the company directly to inquire about whether their own records had been compromised.
Midlands schools’ computer system hacked; teacher pay, summer school affected
A data security incident at Lexington-Richmond District Five (SC) is delaying the start of summer school for some students as well as affecting pay for teachers and staff. The State Law Enforcement Division confirmed that its critical infrastructure cybersecurity unit is assisting the school district in responding to the incident.
IST Launches K-12 Cyber Defense Coalition
In response to the growing cybersecurity threats facing America’s public schools, the Institute for Security and Technology (IST) has launched the K–12 Cyber Defense Coalition (K12 CDC) – a new national partnership made up of 13 education organizations (including K12 SIX) working to protect schools from cyberattacks and improve response strategies.
